So you are still wondering if you should get your business into blogging. You hear people around work talking about it, your marketing team are trying to avoid the topic as they see it as just another task to add to their already enormous workloads. And you still don’t really understand what benefits it can have for your business.

To help you realise the importance of blogging I have put together the following 10 reasons why businesses should blog.

1. Thought Leadership – Thought leaders are looked upon as experts in their industry. This is imperative to your business marketing, if people see you as the experts they will naturally go to you or recommend you when discussing your industry.

2. Search Engine Optimisation – One of the best ways to improve your SEO is to get more sites to link to your site. The best way to do that is to publish interesting information that people want to link to -- that means content, which means a blog.

3. Lead Generation -- A blog can be one of your most important sources of high-quality leads. People will find your website because of the interesting content. You then have the ability to show them that you sell a related product or service, offer them an easy way of making contact with you or signing up for more news and then give them the ability to provide you their details.

4. Social Media Optimisation -- If you're using social media within your business to attract leads than you need a way to bring those people to your website. Blog articles will drive traffic to your website.

5. Educational Value – Part of your companies sales process may involve a large amount of time explaining the process, uses or benefits of your product. With higher leads coming from your blog this time would decrease as people contacting you will already be aware of the processes, uses and benefits of your product.

6. Brand Awareness
-- Today great brands are built by a company's communication strategy and product quality. For example educating businesses on Inbound Marketing is part of Margin Media’s brand. These values are communicated through everything we do and publish.

7. Lead Development – Lead development is an important part of any sales cycle. It's the process of educating prospects and building trust with them until they're ready to buy. An email subscription to a high quality blog is an inexpensive powerful way of doing this.

8. Public Relations -- If you're marketing department are spending hours writing press release after press release in the hope news organisations will publish them, they are wasting their time. Have them put the same time and effort into blog posts and then send the post to the media, this way the media still gets the story and it is also available to all your followers and potential leads.

9. Recruitment – When recruiting you want the best in the market. To attract the best you must be seen as the best. Communicating your company's values and vision clearly in your blog will show a prospective employee that you’re a serious business and leader in your Industry.

10. Internal Communication
– Having a blog will also spread your company message throughout your internal staff. Simply by making your staff aware of your blog you will be keeping them up to date with where your company is heading, the skills that your company has and your vision. Sharing information within your company is just as important as sharing it with potential customers.

So if you are not blogging yet then your missing the boat. Jump aboard and get started and if you need help let us know.

Queensland Jobs Assist Program

The Queensland Jobs Assist Program has been established to help Queensland businesses retain their staff. Now don’t get put off by the title, it is not about taking on apprentice workers, or a work for the dole scheme, it is actually a grant that can add true value to your business where it is needed.

The Queensland Jobs Assist program is delivered to eligible business in 2 stages to a total value of $8,000.   The stages are undertaken by professional consultants from various business-2-business providers. There are consultants from recruitment agencies, creative agencies, digital online marketing agencies, such as Margin Media, marketing agencies and more.

Due to the varying areas of expertise of each consultant the advice they provide can vary dramatically. A recruitment consultant may show you how to keep your staff happy with a few surveys where as an online marketing agency may show you how to use the Internet to generate more sale leads.  Either way the business will receive valuable consulting services at no cost. The Queensland government has budgeted $10 million for the Jobs Assist Program, meaning only 1250 Queensland businesses will benefit this financial year. It is not known if the program will run next year.

There is a catch. To be eligible for the Queensland Jobs Assist Program you must meet a set criteria, briefly these are:

  1. The business must have 10+ full time equivalent employees
  2. The business must be experiencing a negative variation in working capital
  3. The business must have an abn and be registered for GST
  4. The business must have an operating base in Queensland &
  5. The business must be located in a certain geographical area or within a certain industry.  You can find out more here.
